For some time now, representatives from various countries have been building a European certificate for foundation machine operators. The Netherlands is represented here by the industry association NVAF. The aim of this initiative is to introduce a qualification certificate that is the same throughout Europe. For the Netherlands, this is a major challenge. First there is the need to protect the existing quality level of our certificates. At the same time, the new certificate, which may even become globally accepted, must be accepted by the Netherlands. It sounds like future music, but may become reality in the foreseeable future. TCVT certifications from our country are proving quite difficult for neighbouring countries. This is because our neighbouring countries have no obligation of the certificate of professional competence as we do under Dutch law. If a foreign operator wants to work on Dutch soil, he or she must ensure that he or she holds a TCVT certificate. In terms of language already quite a challenge, while it has no validity in the home country. Within European legislation, there is a need for a European certificate. Blindly adopting the Dutch system does not appear to be an option.
Meanwhile, the content of the theory and practical exam has been fixed. It is now a matter of fine-tuning. After that, the European Court's approval is awaited. The fact that the plan is supported by trade associations and employers' organisations from various European countries is a big advantage. Indeed, a well thought-out and accepted proposal is more easily accepted by the European Court. We will keep you informed.
